Independent Living Support
Independent living is about much more than having your name on a lease. It is the day-to-day skill of managing money, time, relationships, and responsibilities in a way that keeps you moving forward. For many adults, especially after homelessness, recovery, or repeated instability, these skills were never fully taught or were interrupted by crisis. Our Independent Living Support is a mentorship-based service designed to fill that gap with respect and practicality.
We begin by asking a simple question: what keeps tripping you up? It might be unopened mail, forgotten appointments, difficulty following through at work, anxiety about using public systems, or uncertainty about how to set boundaries with family or roommates. Together, we map out the areas where a little support could make a big difference.
From there, you are paired with guidance that feels like a coach, not a critic. We practice everyday tools such as budgeting, planning a week's schedule, organizing important documents, communicating with landlords or employers, and setting achievable goals. When helpful, we connect this work to other services-housing stability counseling, employment readiness, or healthy living education-so the skills you learn support every part of your life.
Independent Living Support is not about doing things for you. It is about practicing them with you until you feel confident doing them on your own. Over time, many participants notice fewer crises, stronger relationships, and a growing sense of control over their own direction.
Our measure of success is simple: that you reach a point where you no longer need our support on a regular basis because you have the tools, experience, and self-trust to navigate life's challenges independently.
